Okay, so. This is perhaps a culmination of me listening to the Nutcracker score constantly, a desperate need to have a dancing character, and my nostalgia for my own dancing days, but I've come to realize that Fabrice is a dancer. Or, he was. He took lessons until he graduated high school; he was decent, but he never was going to be professional, and he always put it beneath animals and magic in terms of his hobbies. He loved it, he just never realized how much. Dancing was a way for him to express himself; he never felt shy while in tights; he felt liberated. He's going to start taking adult lessons again at the local studio, which I'll work on at some point, and he's going to perform in this year's performance of the Nutcracker.

BUT he's not going to realize his need for dance in his life, a way to release stress, until he snaps at someone. I really liked what Amanda mentioned about Fabrice being a "fluffy blanket over steel" sort of character. It makes me realize I totally based him on Sansa Stark without even realizing it. And maybe Jon Snow a little bit. But, the point is, he is fiercely loyal and kind until people start hurting the ones he loves. Then he'll do anything to defend them. So, I think, at one point, I'm going to have him get in a barfight of sorts? He won't be using magic, because he is utter crap at offensive and defensive magic. This will be resorting to fists. And, normally, he never resorts to violence. But someone is going to go too far, and he's going to defend them. If anyone wants to do anything plotwise with this, please feel free to let me know!

It's in the aftermath of this that Fabrice will realize he needs a way to let off stress, and he'll return to dancing. And if you have characters that dance, please feel free to plot with anything revolving around that, as well! Ah, I'm sorry for rambling; I just got struck by this gigantic piece of headcanon, and well. Here we are. :)

Fabrice's mother, Sarah, formerly Davis, married to the youngest Coombs, Reginald, at the age of twenty-two, giving birth to Fabrice only three years later. When Fabrice's father perished tragically out at sea five years later, Sarah proved to be the glue holding her family together, balancing her work as a vet at the local zoo and raising Fabrice on her own. When she lost Reginald, Sarah never remarried, or even dated anyone else; she felt her husband to have been the love of her life, and she has never gotten over losing him, especially when their child was so young.

With the business at her job, Sarah had to often leave Fabrice in the care of others, but when she could be with her son, she showered him with all the love and affection a mother could give. As a result, Fabrice and his mother have always been close, even when Fabrice moves out into his own place just down the street.

Sarah is a strong, determined woman who is confident in her abilities, especially as a witch. She taught Fabrice everything he knows, and is always willing to help any witch who might need her assistance. She never shared her husbands suspicions, or, if she does, she manages to keep them well hidden, very much aware of the dangers in voicing them aloud. She took Fabrice to see their cousins on a regular basis, thus creating an image of something of a normal family.

Sarah is a warm, nurturing woman accepting of anyone. She speaks in a soft, warm voice that makes anyone feel instantly at home. She loves to cook, especially for her son and any friends he might bring home with him, as well as her nieces. She receives people with open arms as much as she can, determined to find the positives in life. Fabrice is often told he takes after Sarah, though Sarah sees the same determined glint in his eyes as his father's, a thought that always concerns her, as she worries about her son constantly.

OOC: Just wanted to flesh Fabrice's mother out more. If you want to use her for anything, let me know!

Fabrice has three cats that are his familiars, so they tend to follow him everywhere unless he tells them to stay home. They are all very friendly and they do like other animals, even dogs, so they are always happy to socialize even if Fabrice is a little shy. (In fact, they tend to get really plucky and sometimes force their pet human into talking to other people.) They are all female, born of the same litter from Isis, his mother's cat.

Oh, and when they are feeling especially playful, they tend to float around Fabrice, so that is a sight you may come across every now and then.

I am not responsible for the cute under this cut~ )

NAME: Fabrice Georges Coombs. He is a first-cousin of Moira Coombs.
CHARACTER AGE: 26
BACKGROUND/HISTORY: Fabrice Georges Coombs is the male half of Reginald and Sarah Coombs’ set of twins, older than his sister Cecila by a whole three minutes. A fact he greatly enjoys rubbing in Cecilia’s face when he wants to annoy her. Though both parents are powerful witches, they each possessed defining traits that put them on the outs with the rest of the Coombs family. Fabrices’ father was a fisherman, much to the shame of his older sister, Violet, who had hopes of her younger brother in politics, with perhaps making it to the position of mayor one day.

Reginald was always suspicious of Violet, and he worried for her children as well as his own, though he never voiced his suspicions to anyone but Sarah, who wholeheartedly agreed with him, when they were alone. Fabrice and Cecilia lost their father at the age of five years old to a tragic sea accident, very much like the one that occurred years later to Moira’s father. His mother, a veterinarian at the local zoo, never remarried, believing her husband to be the only love of her life.

Sarah raised Fabrice and Cecilia on her own, not an easy task, to say the least. Thankfully, she had a steady job and could provide them with a comfortable lifestyle in the same house they lived in with Reginald. However, Sarah’s adeptness at her job, along with her specialty in animal magic, meant that she was constantly in demand, leaving Fabrice and Cecilia alone with nannies and at daycare centers while she worked. When the twins reached fifth grade, Cecilia went off to boarding school for gifted students while Fabrice remained in Siren Cove. Despite the distance between them, the twins remained as close as ever, constantly writing to each other and communicating through the magical means their mother taught them, well before the invention of Skype.

Before their father’s death, Fabrice had been a bubbly, bright little boy and Cecilia the more reserved of the pair of them; after the accident, he became shy and withdrawn, keeping to himself in his daycare and classes thereafter while Cecilia thrived in her new enviroment. He became serious and studious, throwing himself into his schoolwork while she balanced schoolwork and a blossoming social life. Meanwhile, Fabrice took to learning various kinds of charms and became fascinated with magical creatures of every variety. But especially the cute-yet-deadly ones.

Fabrice grew up with his mother, sister, and their two cats, Isis and Cleopatra, who also served as familiars to the family. His interactions with the cats made him realize his own love of animals and thus, the direction in which he focused his magical abilities. He went to school like everyone else, but his mother saw to his magical education at home, and when he was old enough, she began taking her with him to work, in part to help teach him, but mostly to distract him from his sister being away so much.

Sarah shared her husband’s suspicions of Violet, but they often visited their wealthier cousins like a normal family to keep up appearances. Fabrice became close with all of his cousins. They played together and exchanged spell secrets. It became easy to ignore the tense, awkward elephant in the room until it was too large not to notice. Violet soon turned her political ambitions on Fabrice, which frightened him greatly, but thankfully he managed to go off to college to pursue a degree in veterinary sciences. After the death of her husband, Sarah became much less polite to Violet, especially in regards to her children.

While Fabrice threw himself into his pursuit of animals, his twin found her way into the limelight through modeling. He supported her all the way, making sure to buy the magazines with her photos and her other projects. This led to him being teased, but to Fabrice, all the nasty remarks he endured were worth it for his sister.

And when Cecilia broke down, Fabric and his mother both dropped everything to be at her side in a French hospital. Fabrice sensed his sister had been unhappy through their correspondence, and he felt guilty for not doing more during their visit. However, their family reunion helped for them all to figure out how to go on from there, and Fabrice happily encouraged Cecilia to continue her education, magical and otherwise, when she quit modeling as a career.

As for himself, after graduating with honors, Fabrice now works with his mother at the Siren Cove Zoo, tending to animals and making sure they are living comfortably. He lives on his own in a small cottage on the same street as his mother, to whom he is very close and very protective of. He keeps in contact with Cecilia regularly; he understands better now their family history.

On his way home from a late night shift, Fabrice was jumped and thought to have been stabbed, according to the papers. In truth, he was magically attacked by his aunt, Violet, and as a result, bears an ugly, purple mark across his chest that will never fully fade, even in spite of the glamors he casts on it. Cecilia came home, of course, as soon as this happened; Fabrice appreciated having her home, but as soon as he recovered enough, he insisted on her returning to Oxford.

Fabrice is returning to Siren Cove after a roughly seven month research trip on behalf of Siren Cove Zoo out in California. While out there, he wound up in a drunken debate with an especially peeved witch, who thereafter cursed him so that he now shapeshifts into his deer form whenever he becomes especially nervous. He is still working on breaking this curse when he returns home
